Alison started designing and printing fabrics in a Lincolnshire pigsty in the summer of '76, after an allergic reaction to life in a London office. Until 1988 she worked with her sister, Ruth, whose love of dance led them to choreograph sparky fashion shows from Cambridge to California. Along the way they acquired Ken - a Wayne Sleep look-alike - whose truly useful talents have led some people to name their washing machines after him. With a democratic flourish Alison secured the work force by marrying it!
That is now ancient history but those of you who have seen Kenny's healing hands in action on tired yogis' shoulders at recent seminars, will understand her deeper wisdom in taking this step. Yoga has become a way of life - being vegetarian, growing one's own vegetables (and scrubbing them), trying to bring ahimsa into village life, etc.
Designs: Since 1995, when she began teaching, Alison's designs have been influenced by the postures of Hatha Yoga and accompanying philosophy. Colours are clear and vibrant with figures that are stylised in order to bring out the spiritual essence of the posture.
Feedback: from practitioners and therapists is welcomed and is of paramount importance when producing clothes in which people can work. "Our aim is that people who wear our clothes can forget that they are wearing anything. Bodies come in all shapes and sizes. We create comfortable and colourful outer coverings for humans who wish to contemplate their BEING!"
